If you have never had a business before but become a new business owner, it can come as quite a shock when you find you have gotten to the end of the week and have not been very productive.
When we work for someone else we are aware of the fact that we need to keep working and not waste time, but when we start working for ourselves it is so easy to waste time and get to the end of the day or week and realize that we have nothing much to show for it.
When I had my real estate office I had salespeople that were on commission and I always had to keep reminding them that if they wasted a day it was their pocket that was going to be affected (as well as mine, but more so theirs).
This also goes for home based business owners. They must keep in mind that if they waste four hours today sitting around watching TV, they will never get those hours back and they will never be paid for them.
Home business owners need to be very motivated people to keep their business rolling against the odds of:
- social interruptions
- family interruptions
- ‘home alone’ syndrome where you can sit around and do nothing
Time Is Money
When you don’t get your work done because you sat and watched TV, or you sat writing on Facebook or Twitter remember that you are not achieving what you set out to do and that is run a home based business.
If you want to be successful setting up your work schedule and sticking to it is a must. Sure, there needs to be time that is not production time, such as bookkeeping and research and development, but at the top of the list needs to be the fact that you need to put in the time for money making activities.
Time Wasted is Never Regained…..
